FTI steps up pace of growth

The company announced yesterday that it agreed to acquire London-based FD International Ltd., a financial public relations firm better known as Financial Dynamics, for $260 million. With a roster of more than 750 clients, including Heineken, Vodafone and Novartis, Financial Dynamics adds 450 employees at 17 offices in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South Africa and the United States.

FTI Consulting 2Q Profit Drops

BALTIMORE (AP) - FTI Consulting Inc., which provides forensic accounting and litigation support services, said Monday its second-quarter profit fell 12 percent, hurt by higher amortization, net interest expense and stock-based compensation costs.

Quarterly net income fell to $12.7 million, or 32 cents per share, from $14.4 million, or 33 cents per share. Revenue grew to $159.8 million from $123.9 million.

Citing costs related to its purchase of nMatrix Inc. last year, Epiq Systems Inc. reported lower second-quarter earnings on higher revenue compared with last year.
